Left Hinge Will Not Open Ge Oven Door

The normal repair procedure would involve pulling the door off of the range and then replacing that bad hinge.

If door does not unlatch and you do not have food in the oven set the oven up to clean for 1 2 hours. Since you are not able to remove the door from the range i recommend that you have a service technician repair that failure. Locate the hinges on either side of the door and flip the latch up. Step 2 find the springs.

Now locate the oven springs to determine whether they re functional. Move the oven door to the fully open position. While reinserting an oven door the hinge flipped into the closed position. Try the following to unlock the door.

Open your oven door halfway and hold on to the sides. Ge appliances notes that if the oven door won t lift up from the hinges there may be two phillips head screws on the inside of the door nearest to the hinges. Step 1 find the hinges. Put the oven door in the ajar position and gently pull up by grasping either side.

In most ovens the springs are either attached to the frame or inside the oven door. It will be difficult to replace that hinge if you cannot pull the oven door off of the range. Disconnect power to range for 30 seconds. This should give you room to pull the door upwards off the hinges.
