Kenmore Upper Oven Door Locked

The lock on a kitchenaid oven engages when it is operating in the self clean cycle.

It locked while i was wiping the control panel surface. Instead of trying to open it check the display panel again. Newer models unlock automatically upon. To reactivate normal oven operation.

Try the following to unlock the door. Modern kenmore ovens have a motorized lock that doesn t shut off automatically. This is a safety feature because of the high heat the oven produces when it is self cleaning. Door will not unlock after self cleaning.

Press and hold stop clear for 3 seconds. Open the door to resume normal operation. Wait approximately 30 minutes for the oven to cool and try to unlock the door. Disconnect power to range for 30 seconds.

It will change once the door finishes unlocking. I have consulted the manual and tried hitting stop. If door does not unlatch and you do not have food in the oven set the oven up to clean for 1 2 hours. Move the locking lever situated just below the oven door handle to the left if your kenmore has a mechanical lock.
