They had come from every village of galilee and from judea and jerusalem. 4 being unable to get to him because of the crowd they removed the roof above him. C 17 and it came to pass on one of those days b when he entered again into capernaum after some days c that he was teaching. The ceiling is crumbling a bit and everyone stops and looks up to see what s going on.

The attempt to get the paralytic in front of jesus called for extreme measures that included moving tiles on the roof which indicates that the house was owned by a wealthy man because most roofs were made of clay or straw and lowering their friend down to jesus. The story begins with the paralyzed man s friends finding a way to get him in front of jesus. Since they were unable to get to jesus through the crowd they uncovered the roof above him made an opening and lowered the paralytic on his mat.
