Jaguar Xj6 Door Lock Problems

An independent jaguar specialist here in the nw is stumped by whats gone wrong.

Jaguar xj6 door lock problems.

It would not start one day so i had it taken to the dealer. Hi recently purchased a 1991 xjs. Door locks on 1990 jaguar xj6. The door locks do not lock when moving gearshift out of park and all locks do not lock when turning the key in the driver s door.

Power door locks do not work i can here all 4 solenoids clicking. I am unable to lock the car up from the drivers door. I d be very thankful for any advice. Light may or may not be connected the the door problem but i would start with checking the ground wires.

He has checked the door mechanism and the central locking modules and they are working fine. This is not a problem when i lock and un lock from the passengers door as it then works perfectly. Check your trans mounts excessive movement can cause problems with that connector it is located on the driver s side of the trans. The same doesnt happen when the lock is manually locked on the door it.

Clean off all rust gunk. Boot locks fuel filler cap locks and all lights. I have this same problem. Make sure that the clips are still all properly holding these arms.

What happens is when i turn the key the central locking locks and then un locks itself. I can just open the driver s door of my jaguar xj6. If they come out of the clips then they will be pushing pulling at an angle and will not close right. The problem is first identifiable from a knocking noise if the car is driven over speed bumps and or rough surfaces.

The original problem was the battery was dead. The passenger front door will not manually lock when open without raising door handle. This is really irritating because i have to always open my door the driver s for that door to unlock. Power door lock problem xj6 1988.

Inspect all levers and arms that are involved with the door opening and locking process. Sounds like you have a binding door latch. I removed the sidings. Recharged the battery and i keep a trickle charger on battery to keep it up.

Hey guys i am having a problem with my 2007 xj8l when the locks are engaged from the central lock button the front passenger door does not unlock unless the same button is pressed or driver door latch is opened. All the other door locks are jammed. Car starts and runs fine.
