I m looking to install a single sliding barn door in the 2nd bedroom of my condo.
Intall barn door into drywall.
The wall is drywall but from the side where the door will hang there s double drywall so the drywall thickness on that side is 25mm 0 98in the inside of the wall is single drywall 12 5mm 0 49in.
So from the side the wall from the side looks like.
I m thinking about door weight of maybe 30kg 66lbs but i actually really have no idea.
Use a color that matches the door or the trim in your home.
In this video i show you how to install barn doors using a standard flat bar rail set that i purchased from home depot.
The door is solid mdf and weighs 200 lbs including the metal rail and sliding wheels.
And also a lag bolt with a lag anchor presumably for drywall only installation.
It will help create a gap between the door and frame.
A backer board is only required if you don t have this much space available see steps 3 5 below.
